With a little help from the California Highway Patrol, the Kings County Sheriff’s Department caught up with a suspect, Trevor Mitchell, 32, on parole for burglary, and a litany of warrants.

However, on Thursday, October 7 at about 5:50 a.m. deputies arrived in Armona to investigate a suspected burglary. While at the scene, the victim told deputies that he was in his bedroom getting a haircut when suddenly, the suspect, Mitchell, fired two rounds from outside his home into the sliding glass entry door of his bedroom. The bullet fragments shattered the glass door allowing Mitchell to enter the room armed with a pistol in his hand.

Mitchell, a former friend of the victim, demanded the DMV pink slip to a vehicle he claimed to own. Deputies say that the suspect threatened to kill everyone in the home unless his demands were met. Mitchell, and the victim, got into an argument which led to the suspect striking the victim in the head twice with his pistol.

Mitchell furthermore accused the victim of stealing his laptop. The victim offered to allow Mitchell to take a nearby laptop. Mitchell grabbed the laptop and fled through the backdoor.

The victim then fled from his home and ran to a nearby residence and waited for the suspect, Mitchell, to leave the immediate area. According to deputies, Mitchell left a short time later in a vehicle.

Kings County detectives assisted with the investigation and discovered that Mitchell was on active CDC Parole for a burglary conviction. They also learned that he had several no bail Kings County warrants issued for his arrest.

The charges on the warrants included sales of narcotics, DUI while under the influence of drugs, failure to appear in court on a felony charge, possession of a controlled substance while armed with a firearm and possession of a firearm as a convicted felon.

Detectives authored an arrest warrant for Mitchell and later that same day, the California Highway Patrol located and arrested him.

Detectives took custody of Mitchell and booked him into Kings County Jail based on his warrants and additional charges including  robbery, home invasion, criminal threats and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Mitchell is currently being held without bail.
