With just a pair of West Yosemite League games to play, Tiger Coach Rich Tuman’s Lemoore High School Tigers appear to be in the proverbial driver’s seat thanks to Hanford’s 24-21 loss Friday night at Redwood High School.

The Tigers continued their winning streak with a relatively easy 42-20 victory over visiting Golden West Friday night in Tiger Stadium,

The Bullpups seemed to have been rolling through its pre-season and WYL season, knocking off five straight opponents before losing Friday night to the Rangers. Tuman’s Tigers fared somewhat better against the Rangers, beating the Visalia school 21-14 in their Oct. 1 contest.

Lemoore (7-1, 3-0) tackles fellow WYL team Mt. Whitney at Visalia Friday night (Oct. 22) before taking on the Bullpups in the Oct. 29 finale in Hanford. Tuman’s Tigers hope to complete their WYL campaign loss-free.

The Pioneers have struggled this season, posting a 1-5 overall record and a humbling 42-21 loss to El Diamante.

In Friday night’s win at home against Golden West, Lemoore scored first in the opening quarter with about seven minutes to play when Ty Pele-Chambers completed a 29-yard pass to Victor Yanez to go up 7-0.

Lemoore upped the advantage to 14-0 when Pele-Chambers tossed a touchdown pass to Preston Scott with about eight minutes left in the second quarter.

Lemoore’s Kevin Villarreal scored on a running play from 22 yards out to put the Tigers up 21-0 in the third quarter. Lemoore, still in the third period, got a two-yard touchdown run from Matthew Herrera to up the Tigers lead to 28-0 – still in the third quarter.

The Trailblazers final scored with seconds left in the third quarter to cut the Tiger’s lead to 28-6 following a failed two-point conversion attempt.

Pele-Chambers connected on a fourth quarter 32-yard pass to Yanez to up the Tigers margin to 35-6.

The Trailblazers, with about four minutes left in the game, scored on one-yard rushing play to cut the margin to 35-12.

However, Lemoore wasn’t quite finished, scoring again on a Preston Scott 81-yard kickoff return for a touchdown to up the margin to 42-12. The Trailblazers scored once more in the final period to close the gap to 42-20.
