Kings County deputies, on November 23, at about 6:30 a.m. were dispatched to a home on 14th Avenue to investigate possibly found stolen property.

The reporting party discovered a trailer and various tools on his property that belonged to a nearby neighbor.

As the investigation unfolded, several additional neighbors reported items had been stolen overnight. One neighbor reported that his trash can had been stolen and another reported that tools were taken from a vehicle. A third reported that a shed had been broken into with lawn equipment now missing.

One of the victims had video surveillance which captured the suspect stealing the items from their property. The investigating deputy recognized the subject, from prior contacts, as Maged Shaw.

Additionally, a cell phone was located at one of the crime scenes which was later determined to belong to the suspect.

The deputy responded to Shaw’s known residence where the deputy located the stolen trash can along with several other stolen items. These items were recovered and returned to their owners. The suspect, Shaw, was not home during this point but he was contacted at this location the following day where he was taken into custody.

During an interview, the suspect admitted he had ingested a Xanax prescription pill which somehow caused him to steal the items from the neighborhood.

Shaw was arrested and booked into Kings County Jail where his charges included second-degree burglary, grand theft, and felony vandalism. His bail was set at $50,000.
