Lemoore’s varsity boys’ basketball team handed West Yosemite League power, Mt. Whitney, its first season loss, outlasting the home court Pioneers a 55-51 loss Tuesday night.

The loss to the Lemoore boys’ team dropped Mt. Whitney to 26-1 overall and 8-1 in the WYL. The Tigers improved to 6-3 in the WYL and are 16-9 overall.

On Tuesday night, the Lady Tigers, hosting Mt. Whitney, emerged from a close game with a 49-46 victory to improve to 3-6 in the WYL.

The regular season ends Thursday night in Hanford for the boys' team. Lemoore’s ladies host Hanford Thursday night (Feb. 10) in the WYL finale.

In the boys’ game, the two teams played evenly for much of the game, but a Tiger strong fourth quarter, during which LHS held the Pioneers to just five points, made the difference in the contest.
A series of free throws in the final minutes from Beunju Moon helped to fend off the surprised Pioneers.
