Kings County deputies were dispatched to the area of Cornelia Drive and Christopher Street in Armona on Tuesday, June 7 at about 12 p.m. It was reported that two subjects were in the area wearing face masks and carrying backpacks.

Upon arrival, deputies spotted two subjects matching the description provided by the reporting party. Both subjects had backpacks and one subject was wearing a ski mask. The subject wearing the ski mask was later determined to be a 15-year-old male juvenile and the second subject was 19-year-old Phabian Jackson.

Upon the arrival, the juvenile had his body partially turned away from them. Deputies instructed the minor to face them and present his hands. As he turned toward the Deputies, a firearm was spotted sticking out of his pants pocket. The juvenile was taken into custody and the handgun was removed.

The handgun was a .9mm Glock style pistol and did not contain any serial numbers (ghost gun) thus making it untraceable. The pistol was loaded with a magazine that contained 8 rounds of ammunition. During a search of the juvenile, a second magazine was located in his pants pocket, loaded with 10 rounds of ammunition.

The suspect, Jackson, began walking toward the front door of a nearby home but was detained before he could enter inside. Jackson explained that he and the juvenile were making a video.

Deputies searched the suspect’s backpack and located another Glock style .9mm handgun. There were not any serial numbers on this gun, and it was also untraceable. The handgun contained an extended magazine which was loaded with 2 rounds of ammunition.

Deputies booked the 15-year-old juvenile into the Kings County Juvenile Center on charges of possessing an untraceable firearm, carrying a loaded firearm in public,  minor illegally possessing a concealed weapon, and minor illegally possessing ammunition. He remains in custody.

Jackson was booked into Kings County Jail on the charges of possessing a traceable firearm, carrying a loaded firearm in public, and possession of a large-capacity magazine. His bail was set at $75,000 and he later posted bail.
