Former Lemoore man, John Robert Corey, passes away at the age of 70

John Robert Corey Sr., age 70, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, March 5, 2023, in Phoenix, Arizona. John was born on August 10, 1952, to John I. Corey and Betty J. Corey at Camp Cook, CA.

After graduating from Lemoore High School in 1970, he briefly attended West Hills College in Coalinga.

At 21, John Robert enlisted in the United States Navy. After joining as a Storekeeper, he found his real passion was working as a Boatswain's Mate Third Class, where he eventually got promoted to Petty Officer Third Class and was honored with the position of Coxswain.

In October of 1977, John Robert began a 37-year career at PG&E, where he obtained the foreman position. He married Deborah Hamman on May 1, 1981, and resided in Arroyo Grande, California.

John Robert truly loved his family and friends. But he had an extraordinary love for his children and his grandchildren. He was known for his wonderful sense of humor, gigantic bear hugs, charming smile, and storytelling ability.

John Robert is preceded in death by his parents, CSM John I. Corey and Betty J. Corey. He is survived by his daughter Jennifer Alexander, her husband, Wesley Alexander, and children, Breanna Corey and Ethen Weston. Also, a son, John Robert Corey Jr., his wife Siomara Corey, and children Dominic, Angelo, Jacob, and Adrian. Daughter Katy Lynn Corey, her fiancé Kirk Strong, children Emily Sakowski, Payton McKinley, and Aubrey McKinley. Daughter Trisha Fleming, her children James Reddick Jr., Christopher Ramsey, and Ashlee Fleming.

John Robert is also survived by his siblings, Susan Holzmann, Elizabeth Taito, and Daniel Corey.
