Following the incident that took place at the Lemoore High School on April 14, in which a student was accused of bringing a firearm on campus, Lemoore Police Department officials were contacted by numerous students and parents concerned about false rumors regarding a possible shooting at the high school to occur in the following days.

Lemoore police officers, as well as school administration, have interviewed several students regarding this threat. The Lemoore Police Department has not established any credible evidence to support these statements.

The Lemoore Police Department added that it takes every threat it receives seriously, and the safety of the community and students is always its main priority.

However, out of an overabundance of caution, the Lemoore Police Department said it would increase its presence in and around the school this week.

Anyone with information regarding this case can call Lemoore Police Department at (559) 924-9574.

On April 14 at about 8:41 a.m., Lemoore officers responded to a report of a student possibly carrying a firearm. In partnership with the school’s administration, police viewed surveillance video and identified a possible suspect. School officials had placed the campus on lockdown while police searched for the suspect.

Officers located the suspect in class and took him into custody. Police found a .22 caliber pistol in his possession. The suspect was arrested and booked into the Kings County Juvenile Center.
