Kings deputies arrest suspect who stole truck with children inside

The suspect, Strong, got into the truck and drove away with the kids still inside. The father saw his children being driven away, and he chased after his children on foot in a desperate attempt to rescue them. A subject driving in the area saw what was happening and picked up the children’s father. They pursued the truck, and Robert pulled over at 14th and Idaho.
The suspect tried to get the children out of the truck, where an altercation occurred between Strong and the children’s father. The suspect ran away from the conflict on foot to a nearby home of an elderly couple, where he kicked in the back door.
Once inside the home, the suspect, Strong, was confronted by an elderly homeowner. Strong advanced further into the house, forcing the homeowner to confront Robert physically. The homeowner pushed the suspect toward the front door, frantically trying to force him from the home. At this time, deputies arrived on the scene. Upon seeing law enforcement, Strong ran away from the house.
Authorities immediately ran after Strong, and after a short foot pursuit, the suspect was caught a short distance away, surrendering when the K-9, Boomer, arrived on the scene.
Deputies transported Strong to the Kings County Jail, where he was charged with kidnapping, Child Abuse, Child Endangerment, Stolen Vehicle, Home Invasion, and Resisting/Obstructing. His bail was set at $555,000.
The suspect, Strong, is currently on Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS) for felony charges of resisting arrest and robbery. A PRCS agent was contacted, and a PRCS hold was placed on Robert.
