Frosh, junior varsity sweep visiting Sunnyside in Tuesday volleyball action

It was a clean sweep for Lemoore’s volleyball program Tuesday night as the freshmen and junior varsity squads joined their varsity brethren in claiming victories.

The Lemoore frosh opened the night’s winfest by easily defeating visiting Sunnyside in two sets 25- 6 and 25-9.

The frosh scored 14 straight winners to lead 14-0 before Sunnyside finally got on the scoreboard, and only because Lemoore’s serve went into the net. Lemoore led 22-4 before Sunnyside scored its final point.

In the junior varsity contest the young ladies got solid performances from Bobbi Henry and Madison Deathridge who were powerful at the net. In the early going a pair of spikes by Henry gave the Tigers the early lead 4-1 and Lemoore didn’t look back, winning the first set 25-19 despite a sort of comeback attempt by Sunnyside.

Ahead just 16-13 midway through the match, Deathridge came up with a powerful slam to start a Tiger charge. The JVs outlasted Sunnyside in the second game as well, winning 25-18. Taylor Devries came up with a solid hit to boost the Tigers.
