Guess who still leads California high schools in rushing? Lemoore High School’s sensational running back, Richard Doctor, according to MaxxPreps, a high school sports website, remains the state's leading rusher with 1,881 yards after seven games.

Doctor has rushed 191 times and is averaging 9.85 yards per carry for the Tigers, who are 5-2 on the season, after defeating Golden West Friday 57-31.

Second place on the California list is Imperial High School's Royce Freeman with 1,594 yards. Rushing totals for some high school athletes haven't been entered yet, but it's unlikely that Doctor, who rushed for 306 yards Friday night against Golden West, will soon be giving up his first place status.

Doctor is currently first in total touchdowns scored with 27, including the eight he scored Thursday against Hanford West and his six touchdowns versus the Trailblazers.

Doctor isn’t too far off the national pace either. In the nation the talented back is still fourth overall. Chase VanSchoyck, of North Central High School in Farmersburg, Indiana, is no. 1 in the nation with 2,095 yards. He is averaging 13 yards per carry and has 32 touchdowns.
