Water polo begins key swing through WYL, coming off win against Hanford West

Lemoore’s varsity boys’ water polo team improved its West Yosemite League record to 3-3 with a relatively easy victory over Hanford West Thursday in the Tiger pool. In that contest the Tigers, led by Jacob Duncil and Kirby Toomey, with four goals each, took a quick 9-2 halftime lead before closing it out in the final two periods for a 15-3 victory.

Chase McDonald had three goals while Jake Hansen contributed two scores to the win. Luke Brown, Tyler Evans, and Ben Parlow each had a goal for Lemoore.

Lemoore’s junior varsity boys had more of a nailbiter with the Huskies, but beat them 9-6 as Peter Castro scored four times to Lemoore his squad. Calvin Rhoads scored twice while Jonah Burke, Riley Jacobs and Griffin Stringer each scored one goal.

The boys and girls water polo teams travel to Mt. Redwood October 24 for their next league contest. They will return to Lemoore for an Oct. 29 match against Mt. Whitney and on Oct. 31, hit the road again for a meeting with El Diamante.
