Constance Marie Cottini

Constance Marie Cottini, age 69, passed from this life surrounded by her family on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, in Quincy. She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Bill; son Patrick; daughter Christina Persinger; son-in-law Sean; 8-year-old granddaughter Julia, the “apple of her eye”, and sister Patsy Kansier-Amacher.

Connie was born Oct. 3, 1944, in Bronxville, N.Y. She was one of six children. Her father was a civil engineer and frequently worked overseas doing reconstruction after the war. Connie spent some of her early years in Norway, later the family settled in Sacramento.

Connie and her husband Bill, lived in Lemoore for several years. They arrived in Lemoore in 1970 when Bill took a job as a teacher at Lemoore High School. He also was principal at Avenal High School and vice principal at Lemoore High. He took a job at Quincy High School and later became superintendent of Pumas County.

Recently, Connie attended her 50th class reunion of Loretto High School in Sacramento, many of which were former Saint Ignacius Elementary School classmates and lifelong friends from her Catholic education.

Her years spent in Norway fostered her lifelong love of her Norwegian heritage. Connie was a multi-talented seamstress and had a passion for quilting and sewing. She was a member of the Quincy Crazy Quilters. Her talent was also reflected in her collections of art and heirlooms, beautiful hand crafted quilts, and her family traditions.

Connie was a life-long traveler, but her greatest love was her family and friends. Connie devoted herself lovingly to raising their two children and caring for the many lives she touched.

A mass was held on Nov. 23 at 2 p.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church in Quincy, where she was a longtime member.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to California State University, Chico’s Ability First Sports Camp (for disabled youth) at Plumas Bank, 336 W. Main Street, Quincy, CA 95971, phone: 530-283-6800.

Rest in peace, Connie, your family and friends will remember you always.
