Lady Tigers soccer team wins Tiger Invitational for first time
Lemoore opened with a 4-0 victory over Lindsay then pounded Frasier Mountain 5-0. The Tigers also beat Exeter 5-0 and finished with a tough 2-0 win over El Diamante.
“My girls played a beautiful possession game and finished really well,” said Tiger Coach Janet Brown, back for another year at the helm of the Lady Tigers. “We scored a total of 16 goals in four games and were never scored on. We also beat El Diamante in the final, who we will meet two more times his year.”
Lemoore got goals from a host of Tigers in the final, including scores from Keelyn Kaalekahi, Traci Roa Kelley Mellott, Mari Avalos, Erin Duenes, Tonalla Renteria, and Michaela Ramirez.
Lemoore also got a number of assists and great playmaking from Roa. Defensively the Tigers were sparkling as well, getting solid play from Amy Brown, Krysta Meneses, Alej Lopez, Susana Bravo and Anna Covarrubias.
“We are playing a more attacking formation this season and so are hoping to score many goals,” said Brown. “I have a strong back line and so we are taking risks on being more offensive. We hope to dominate the league.”
