Lemoore's youth wrestlers get a head start on winning championships
The youth program trains in the Lemoore High School wrestling room where Botelho and a slew of volunteer coaches assist in their development. It paid off with a big Valley win last weekend.
Coached by Jose Morales, who has guided the team for the past three years, Lemoore’s kids lit up the gym Saturday winning convincingly. Team members include: Marissa Perico, Joshua Rogers, Bubba Ashley, Isaiah Morales, Mariah Perico, Lucas Gonzalves, Ethanial Solorio, Jerry Perico, Daymen Soto, J’Shawn Webster and Sebastian Solorio.
“We have a lot of high achievers,” said Morales. “They come ready to wrestle every day.”
Botelho can’t wait for this group of kids to make it to high school. “This is huge,” he said of the valley championship. “This is where we develop these kids, and when they finally get to us they already know how to wrestle.”
Botelho sees some future state champions in this group of kids.
