Lemoore hoop stars earn first team status on All West Yosemite League squad

Lemoore basketball players C.J. Johnson and Keisha Loftin were both selected to the first teams of their respective West Yosemite League All League squads. Lemoore’s Jordan Honeywood was named to the second team.

Both Johnson and Loftin led their teams in scoring throughout the season. The Tiger boys finished fifth in the WYL with a record of 7-5 after having won the title the year before. Overall the Tigers were 17-12 on the year and were bounced out of the Division II playoffs by Garces High 77-60 in the second round.

The girls’ team was also 7-5 in league play and 16-10 overall. They dropped their Division II playoff opener to Tulare Western 62-29.

Hanford’s Brooke Johnson was named the league’s Most Valuable Player and she was joined on the first team, in addition to Loftin, by Janelle Sumilong and Madison Barnes.

The Hanford boys had three players on the first team, Thomas Spinks, Ju’Wuane Huges, and Trent Reynolds to the first team. Redwood’s Josh Carr was the WYL’s MVP.
