It was on August 21, 1985, that a young Officer Dean Esquibel was killed in the line of duty as a result of a traffic collision while pursuing a fleeing vehicle. In memory of the late officer’s sacrifice, Assembly Concurrent Resolution 69 officially designates the Cross Creek Bridge at State Route 198 located in Kings County, as the “CHP Officer Dean Esquibel Memorial Bridge.”

This dedication is to honor Dean’s sacrifice and recognize his family he left behind.  This memorial freeway dedication will be the first to honor a fallen Peace Officer in Kings County and the local CHP is expecting 100-150 people in attendance.
