Lemoore Police investigate possible gang shooting in Lemoore

On Saturday, July 19, at about 7:45 p.m. Lemoore police officers were dispatched to a home on West D Street for a report of a gunshot that was fired within the residence.

When officers arrived they discovered that one of the front windows was shattered and there was glass on the ground underneath the window frame.

Officers spoke with two adult males and one juvenile male who were inside the home. According to the suspects within the home, while they were in the living room area of the residence playing video games someone shot a round from what appears to be a shotgun into the house, shattering the front window.

Two subjects fled to another room in the house for protection but the resident, 22-year-old Juan Perez retrieved a shotgun and fired one shot from inside the residence towards the front window, which was in the direction of a home across the street. Based on their investigation, officers believe that Perez then gave the shotgun to the juvenile, who hid it in the attic.

Lemoore officers found the shotgun in the attic and also located shotgun shells throughout the house. Perez was also in possession of prescription pills that he could not prove were prescribed to him.

Based on evidence and witness statements, officers believe that this shooting is gang related and the investigation has been turned over to the Kings County Gang Task Force.  There were no injuries sustained in this incident.

Perez was subsequently arrested for negligently discharging a firearm, possession of a controlled substance, and a gang enhancement. He was booked at the Kings County Jail and his bail was set at $95,000.

The 14 year old juvenile was arrested for being an accessory and a gang enhancement. He was booked at the KingsCountyJuvenileCenter. No charges were filed on the third subject.
