Tigers open season with hard-fought win over Monache; Clovis next at home
With Lemoore up 28-24, the Marauders were poised to score with just 20.9 seconds left in the fourth quarter when quarterback Chris Steventon threw a strike into the end zone where Lemoore’s Allen Perryman intercepted the ball to end the Monache threat and clinch the hard-fought win for his Tiger team.

Lemoore took the initial lead in the first quarter when Tiger quarterback Cort Groathouse marched his team down the field on its first possession and then found Perryman in the end zone for a quick 7-0 lead. The Tigers made it 14-0 in the second on a long pass from Groathouse to Logan Ahlin.
Monache didn’t roll over and play dead. They scored two touchdowns and booted a field goal in the second to take a 17-14 lead into the half.
The teams traded touchdowns in the third before Trey Perryman iced the victory with a short TD in the opening minutes of the fourth period.
The Tigers will have their hands full again this Friday when they host Clovis High School, which recently took a beating from visiting Paso Robles Friday night, losing 48-30. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
