Tigers pound Division 1 Buchanan 21-0 to improve to 3-0; Sanger up next
Lemoore hits the road again Friday for what has become an annual matchup with the Sanger Apaches. Sanger, a member of the County/Metro Division, edged Clovis East Friday night 37-34.
The Tigers defense took advantage of a number of Buchanan miscues to surprise the once vaunted Buchanan team. Al Perryman, Lemoore’s premier defensive back, picked off three Buchanan passes while teammate Darnell Foster intercepted a pass and returned it for a touchdown, one of two on the night for the talented back.
"We played just a tremendous game," said Tiger Coach Shannon Pulliam. "We really held them on the run, which forced them to pass more. "Al (Perryman) is just like a ball hawk. He reads the quarterback's eyes and waits for the throw. And Darnell was just sitting in the right place at the right time and he ran it back for a touchdown. It's nice to have a great running back in the defensive backfield."
Pulliam had nothing but praise for his defensive line including Zack Frazier who on one series of plays had three tackles and a quarterback sack, resulting in a 12-15-yard loss for the Bears. "He's good," said Pulliam. "He's 6-4 and 215 pounds. He's very strong and very athletic."
