Lemoore police render possible incendiary devices harmless

On Thursday, Oct. 16 the parent of a Liberty Middle School student contacted the Youth Development Officer assigned to the campus regarding concerns about her child. The parent found some suspicious items in her son’s bedroom and believed they could be incendiary devices.

Lemoore officers responded and visually examined the three items. The body of two of the items appeared to have been made using a toilet paper roll and the third appeared to be made using index cards. The first two items appeared to have fuses in them. Unsure of the contents inside the items, officers on scene requested assistance from the Tulare County Consolidated Bomb Squad.

Members of the Tulare County Consolidated Bomb Squad arrived and examined the three items and ultimately rendered them safe. They determined that the items were incendiary in nature.

The juvenile who manufactured the items was interviewed and stated that he had no intention of harming anyone or anything. The juvenile was cited for possession of a destructive device, possession of materials with the intent to make a destructive device, and released into the custody of his parents.
