What does it say about us as a country when a substantial block of our electorate routinely votes for Donald Trump? Have we in our collective lifetimes seen anything as nasty and as vulgar as this year’s Republican race for the presidential nomination – except of course maybe season 4 of “The Apprentice” or season 3 of “The Walking Dead?” Keep reading...
I’ve always found it hard to write a bitchy column. Bitchiness and rudeness comes easy to some people, say like a Donald Trump, Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio, all of whom have brought new meaning to the word “liar.” Keep reading...
It is of course that time of the year, when we begin to reflect on the past year and wonder what’s in store for us as we wander into the new year. We of course will be bombarded by hundreds of articles and columns by noted journalists, and maybe a few comedians looking for a quick laugh, that will vainly attempt to entertain or enlighten us with carefully researched – or maybe not – predictions for the future. Let’s just get on with the business of America. Now that the Supreme Court has ruled – and by surprising majority – let’s set aside all of this nonsense about the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) being “fundamentally broken” as Speaker of the House of Representatives John Boehner stated so non-eloquently today, following the Supreme Court's 6-3 vote, that subsidies to ACA enrollees, not part of a state health exchange, and not specifically stated but implied in the law, were legal and could and should be retained. When Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that he will run for President, David Letterman also announced that he’s coming out of retirement – just for the Trump jokes. Keep reading...
