Investigators with the Kings County Major Crimes Task Force on Feb. 27 conducted a violent crime suppression detail within the city of Corcoran when, at about 9:50 p.m., they observed a vehicle and several individuals congregating in the area of Dairy and Phillips.

When investigators approached the vehicle, it suddenly fled the scene, forcing a pursuit. A passenger in the car exited during the pursuit and attempted to escape on foot. Investigators identified the suspect as Cesar Rodriguez, 26, of Corcoran. After a short foot pursuit, Cesar was apprehended after he physically resisted arrest.

During the struggle, the suspect, Cesar, tried to reach into his waistband area several times. Once Cesar was finally taken into custody, investigators discovered a loaded .40 caliber handgun. Cesar was arrested for a variety of felony charges, including being a gang member in possession of a firearm and resisting arrest.
