A Lemoore man was fatally injured late Friday night (Oct. 9) at about 11:30 p.m. when – according to Lemoore police – a suspect, Roger Cabuenas Jr. of Lemoore, drove his vehicle in the side of a house on Sunset Avenue in Lemoore.

The victim, a resident of the house, was struck by the suspect’s car and pinned between the car and debris inside the home.

Additional Lemoore police officers and Lemoore firefighters responded quickly to the scene to free the victim. The male was transported to Hanford’s Adventist Medical Center, where he later died.

The suspect, Cabuenas Jr., ran from police officers, but after a short chase, he fell to the ground. As Lemoore officers attempted to arrest him, the suspect pointed a loaded gun at one police officer. Police quickly took Cabuenas into custody without further incident.

Initially, Cabuenas gave the police a false name, but the 19-year-old suspect was eventually identified. An investigation determined that Cabuenas was suspected of driving under the influence of drugs at the time of the crash.

His bail was set at $305,000 bail.
