Masks in classrooms, safety measures, continue as students return to class Jan. 10

And according to local and state rules, COVID-19 protocols will remain in effect as the pandemic continues to make its presence known in California.
“Our COVID-19 protocols remain the same in terms of masks being worn in classrooms and following all safety measures regarding staying home when exhibiting symptoms,” said Lemoore Elementary School District Superintendent Cheryl Hunt.
Hunt added that it’s imperative that parents play a role as the pandemic continues in the New Year.
“During this time away from school, it is important for our families to monitor their child’s health as COVID conditions are still prevalent,” she said.
She added that should any of the district’s students experience a positive COVID event, be identified as close contact, or exhibit symptoms, that they remain at home and contact the school on Monday, January 10.
Hunt added that school staff will assess each situation in order to determine a safe return date to school.
California health officials continue to say that the surest path to full in-person instruction is for students and others to continue wearing masks. According to the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) masks “are one of the most effective and simplest safety mitigation layers to prevent in-school transmission of COVID-19 infections and to support full-time in-person instruction in K-12 schools.”
The CDPH continues to encourage COVID-19 vaccinations for all eligible people in California, including teachers, staff, students, and adults sharing homes with school students, teachers, and others.
