The Lemoore doubles team of Tyler Evans and Luke Brown captured the West Yosemite League doubles championship Friday in Visalia, beating a team from Hanford West in the tourney finals. The talented duo won 4-6, 6-4, 10-7 to advance to the Area Championships at Golden West High School May 8-9.

After blowing past the competition in the pre-season and compiling a 12-1 record, the Tigers began the WYL stretch with a 5-3 win over Hanford West. You would think that Isaiah Martinez would have better things to do. After all, all he did last weekend was win an NCAA national championship in wrestling, with about a million people tuned in to ESPN, including most of the inhabited areas of Kings County. I even have a sneaking suspicion a few gophers stopped digging holes in my back yard and tuned in as favorite son Martinez went 35-0 as a freshman to win his first NCAA wrestling title.
