West Hills Magazine, spring edition, available now online
This 38-page issue of the magazine features stories about the West Hills Community College District’s winning of two California Awards for Innovation in Higher Education this year and its continued dedication to innovation, a look at West Hills College instructors who make it a point to bring student learning outside of the classroom and the story of a West Hills College Lemoore student who found success despite hearing challenges.
The issue also looks at the ways in which WHCCD helps students connect with careers, including a partnership with Fresno’s Geekwise Academy to help students learn computer programming, an annual camp at WHCC for students interested in an agriculture career and the TEAM Teach teacher preparation program at WHCL.
Features on the physical growth of the WHCCD and on the planning behind the success of the district can also be found in this issue.
Also included is a feature about new West Hills College Coalinga President Brenda Thames, a profile of a WHCC alumna turned fashion designer and a preview of an exciting new environmental education program at North District Center, Firebaugh.
