The City of Lemoore cut the ribbon for its latest addition to the Kings Lions Park. Several city officials were on hand Tuesday, May 17, at about 5 p.m. to cut the ribbon for a new playground area at the expansive park. The park also includes lighted softball fields and dog parks.

Since the new 19th Avenue overpass was completed a couple of years ago, the Kings Lions Park (formerly the 19th Avenue Park) has undergone somewhat of a transformation as well. The ringing in of a new century on January 1, 1900 was an exciting time for the community of Lemoore. Just 23 years earlier, Lemoore was officially named when the railroad plotted a new community along its western spur from Goshen. In 1877, the few businesses grouped along what was to become Lemoore Avenue and Bush Street quickly purchased lots near the railroad tracks and reestablished their enterprises to the north. Several members of the Lemoore High School Class of 1965 were on hand Saturday morning for a personal tour of the campus, which several of the attendees had not seen since graduating. About 60 class members attended the 50th Class Reunion at the Palace Hotel and Casino held Saturday night (Sept. 19).
