A horrific showing against Bullard High School in the opening round of the Clovis Elks Tournament took Lemoore’s varsity boys’ basketball team out of the running for the tourney title. Despite the surprising 103-74 loss to the Knights on Dec. 26, Lemoore easily won its next three games to finished 7th in the massive tournament, completing the week with a 70-57 win over Madera. Lemoore's boys' basketball team rebounded from its first loss Thursday with a lambasting of hapless Hoover High School and then thrashing Sunnyside in the Holiday Invitational Tournament. The Tigers used 23 points from Jaylunn English, 13 from Reggie Davis and Matt Borba's 10 points to crush the Patriots 77-40 and improve their overall record to 7-1. Lemoore’s varsity girls’ basketball team has a 5-game winning streak after beating Delano Friday night 50-40 and hope to make it six in a row today (Dec. 19) in a late-morning tournament game against Tehachapi. Obviously, Hanford and Redwood will no doubt be big hurdles for the Tigers to overcome – both teams went 11-1 to share last year’s league title. The accolades keep coming in for Lemoore High School's impressive NJ ROTC unit. The unit's talented drill teams competed in the prestigious Westview Drill Meet in San Diego Saturday (Dec. 5) and came away with second place overall. The Unit is show in the photo with an impressive display of hardware it captured while in San Diego.
